AC Infinity Air Filtration Kit 200 mm

This size is no longer a tent kit. At this airflow you are into grow-room territory, and that changes the arithmetic you use to decide whether it is enough.

Sizing a room rather than a tent

With a tent it is simple: volume times sixty tells you what you need for one air change per minute. A room is a different matter, because three things come into play that a tent does not have.

The first is height. Rooms are taller than tents, and those extra cubic metres count even though nothing is growing in them. A space four by three metres with a 2.60 metre ceiling is just over 31 m³, which asks for around 1870 m³/h for one air change per minute.

The second is that a room is rarely airtight. Air escapes around doors and gaps, so part of your airflow never travels through the filter at all. That is fine as long as you maintain negative pressure, but it does mean planning with more headroom than the theory suggests.

The third is heat. In a room with a lot of lighting, heat removal rather than air change is what sets the requirement, and then you size from your wattage instead of from your volume.

If your figure comes out above what this kit delivers, the answer is not to run this kit harder but to add a second extraction point or move to a larger fan with a filter to match.

This kit or the PRO version

At this size the price gap to the PRO kit is at its widest, so it is worth knowing where that money goes.

The airflow gap is small; the noise and the control are not. In a room with a varying load, control that responds to temperature pays for itself in stability, and in electricity, because a fan that only runs hard when it needs to runs quieter the rest of the day.

Staying with this kit is a sound choice as long as your setup is predictable: one fixed speed, set once, matched to the heaviest moment of your day.

Frequently asked questions

Is 42 dBA loud?
At full power you will hear it. You buy this size precisely so it can run at a lower setting, and the noise drops with it.

Can I run two tents from this?
With a Y-piece, provided the total stays within the airflow and both branches are the same length. Unequal branches pull unequally.

Why no smart controller in this kit?
This version has a manual ten-speed controller. For automatic control on temperature and humidity, look at the 200 mm PRO kit.

How much more airflow does the PRO kit give?
807 against 724 CFM, so roughly a tenth. The real difference is the control and three decibels less noise.

What does this kit use?
72 watts at full power. Considerably less at a lower setting.

Does the filter need its own hanging point?
Yes. It is half a metre long and belongs on its own points, not on the ducting.
