The CLOUDLINE Pro S10 is the largest size we stock and the only one in the range where power and noise are worth checking up front. At full speed this is a different machine from its smaller siblings.

Peak draw, average use, and why you rarely run at ten

Two numbers belong to this fan: 255 W maximum and 136 W average. The first is what it pulls at speed ten, the second is where it lands in practice. That gap is not incidental, it is the whole point of an EC motor under PWM control: the speed drops smoothly and consumption follows it down.

The same goes for noise. The 48 dBA figure is measured at full power, and in a house you will hear it. At a lower speed it falls away sharply, because fewer revolutions mean lower air velocity through the ducting, and that is where most of the sound comes from.

So the practical conclusion: buy this size not to run it flat out, but to be able to run it halfway. An S10 at speed four is quieter, cheaper to run and easier to live with than an S8 forced to sit at ten to keep the same room in check.

Check your circuit as well. At full power this fan draws 2.7 A, and in most grow rooms it shares a circuit with lighting and other equipment. It is not a heavy load, but at this size it is no longer negligible either.

What 1059 Pa of static pressure buys you

Static pressure is the back pressure a fan can overcome before nothing gets through at all. On the smallest size in this range that figure is 223 Pa; on this one it is 1059. That is almost five times as much, and it is the real reason to buy this size.

Resistance does not come from duct length alone. A carbon filter is the largest item, particularly once the carbon has been in service a while and packs down. Then come the bends, a silencer if you use one, an insect mesh over the outlet, and the outlet itself.

On a small fan that sum reaches its ceiling quickly, and then you see something frustrating: the speed goes up, the noise goes up, and the airflow stays where it was. At this size there is so much margin that the resistance you add barely registers.

In practice that mostly buys freedom in how you build. A long run to the roof, two bends on the way, a silencer in between: all of it is possible without wondering whether enough air still moves.

Several tents on one extraction line

At this airflow, a single tent is rarely the reason to take this size. More often it is two or three tents, or a room with several extraction points, joining onto one fan.

That works, with two conditions. The branches have to be roughly equal in length, because air always takes the path of least resistance: a short branch and a long branch on one Y-piece means the short one pulls nearly everything while the long one barely ventilates. And the total you ask for has to stay under the fan's airflow, with margin for the filters.

If you want per-tent control, put a damper or a blast gate in each branch. Without one you share a single speed across all branches, and the tent with the highest heat load then dictates what the rest gets.

Each branch also needs its own carbon filter if odour has to be removed. A single filter after the junction works too, but it then has to handle the total airflow, and you lose the ability to disconnect one tent without letting the others' odour through.

The step from S8 to S10 costs nine decibels at full power, audibly more than the step before it. If you do not need the 1201 CFM, the S8 is the quieter choice.

Frequently asked questions

Is this too much for one tent?
For a single 120 x 120 cm tent, yes. This size is intended for rooms, or for several tents on one extraction line.

What does it actually use?
255 W at full power, 136 W on average. Run it halfway and you sit well below that.

Can it be turned down to genuinely quiet?
Down to very low, yes. PWM control lets the motor turn slowly without humming, and at those speeds what you hear is mostly the air.

Which filter goes with it?
One rated for at least 1201 CFM, or a smaller one if you run the fan at a lower speed as a matter of course. The filter must never be the bottleneck.

Can I put it on a smart controller?
Yes, over UIS on a Controller 69 Pro or newer. The supplied wired controller is then set aside.

How should it be hung?
From the bracket with straps or rope hangers, at two points. Never leave the weight on the ducting, and hang it loose rather than bolting it down hard, which saves you vibration noise through the structure.
