A 200 mm inline fan with a brushless EC motor, rated at 807 CFM (1371 m³/h) at 39 dBA. Supplied with a wired ten-speed controller.

The CLOUDLINE Pro S8 is meant for grow rooms and larger tents, where it is a whole space being ventilated rather than a single plant. At this kind of airflow the gains are in where you hang it, not in which speed you pick.

Where the fan goes and where the air comes in

Warm air rises, so extraction belongs as high as possible, and preferably in the corner furthest from your intake. The intake, whether that is a second fan or simply an opening, belongs low in the opposite corner.

Do it the other way round, or put both points close together, and the fan keeps pulling the same air past itself while a warm, humid layer sits exactly where your flowers are. You then read perfectly good numbers up top while it stays far too humid lower down.

The arrow on the housing shows the direction of airflow. Check it before you screw anything down: a fan pointing the wrong way pushes air into your space instead of out of it, and on an extraction run with a filter you will smell that immediately.

Watch the ducting too. Every bend costs airflow, and five metres of slack, winding duct costs more than three metres pulled straight. If it feels like too little is moving even at speed ten, the ducting is almost always the first place to look, before the fan.

Hanging and maintenance

Two hanging straps are included for mounting the fan to a pole, either way up: by the bracket when it hangs downward, or by the duct flanges when it stands upright. Rope hangers work as well, looped around the flanges.

For cleaning, lift the motor box out of the frame. Wipe the impeller, the stator blades and the inside of the flanges with a damp cloth. At this size that is not optional: the more air passes through, the faster dust settles on the blades, and dust on the impeller costs you quiet and airflow at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it as an intake rather than an extractor?
You can. Turn it around so the arrow points into your space, and hang it low instead of high.

Should I hang it outside the tent to cut noise?
It helps, and a silencer in the ducting helps more. At this size most of the noise comes out of the ducting, not the motor.

How often should I clean it?
Have a look every cycle. A film of dust on the impeller is easier to hear than to see, because the imbalance makes the fan run rougher.
