The CLOUDLINE Pro T8 pairs the largest fan in the range that still fits a tent with the smart controller. Spaces this size often still run lamps on iron ballasts, and that makes probe placement suddenly important.

Why your readings go strange next to an older lamp

Unshielded HPS and MH ballasts radiate radio frequency interference, from the unit itself and above all from its cables. A probe cable running tight alongside them picks that interference up, and your controller then reads figures that are not real. What follows is a system reacting to noise instead of to your climate.

The manufacturer names two measures. Keep the probe cable well away from your ballast cabling, and do not put your lamp and your fan in the same duplex outlet, but on separate strips and sockets. If it stays unsettled, you can shield the cable with aluminium foil tape and form a cone of it around the probe head.

Where the probe does belong: at the warmest or most humid spot, so at canopy height rather than up against the tent roof. A probe up top measures air already on its way to your extraction, which is exactly the air your control loop has no use for.

One more thing that regularly goes wrong: the plastic cap has to come off the probe. Leave it on and the reading lags, so your fan responds late to everything.

Expanding: how many devices it takes

At this size the controller is rarely running extraction alone. So it is worth knowing where the limits sit before you buy more.

The practical trap is in that last column. Devices sharing one port have to be of the same kind: fans with fans. A humidifier and a fan on the same port will not do, because they then share one programme and one level.

If you want devices controlled independently, simply use the four ports. Each has its own mode and its own values, and the ALL port is there for when you do want to set everything at once.

Alerts and locking

The display shows icons when something happens: an alert when a trigger activates your device, a countdown alert when a timer or cycle completes, and a warning when a connected device runs into interference. That last one is worth recognising, because it usually means a loose cable or a device that is not being seen.

The controller can be locked so nothing can be adjusted, and the display then switched off. Your programme keeps running throughout. In a room that has to be genuinely dark during the night period, that is a necessity rather than a nicety.

If you use the app, an active automation programme takes precedence over what you set on the unit itself. If the fan behaves differently from what you expect, check first whether a programme is still running in the app.

Frequently asked questions

My temperature jumps around on the display. Is that the probe?
More likely interference from a ballast. Move the probe cable away from the lamp cabling and put your lamp on a different circuit.

Where should the probe hang?
At canopy height, at the warmest or most humid point, with the plastic cap removed.

Can I connect a humidifier to it as well?
Yes, as long as it is an AC Infinity UIS device. Give it its own port, because devices sharing a port have to be the same type.

How many fans can I connect?
Four directly, and with a daisy-chain adapter up to twenty per port, provided they are from the same series.

Can I switch the display off during the dark period?
Yes. Lock the controller and turn the display off; your programme keeps running.

The fan is doing something other than what I set. Why?
Check whether an automation programme is active in the app. That takes precedence over the settings on the unit itself.
