The CLOUDRAY S9 is the largest circulation fan in the range. Alongside ordinary speed control it has something most fans do not, and it is the feature most often left unused.

Wind modes: airflow that varies instead of blowing flat

On a plain speed setting the fan turns at a fixed rate. The air moves, but always at the same strength and always strongest in the same place. Outdoors that never happens: wind comes in gusts, with quiet spells between them.

The ten wind modes imitate that. The fan rises and falls within a set band, so the airflow varies rather than staying flat.

Why that is worth having: a stem that has to flex now and then grows thicker and stronger than one raised in still air. Wind is the cue that tells a plant it has to hold itself up, and later in flower, as the tops get heavier, that is exactly what you need.

Variation also prevents the opposite problem. Constant wind on the same leaves dries those leaves faster than the rest of the plant, which is what curling edges on one side are telling you. A varying stream spreads that load.

In practice a low wind mode suits the seedling stage and a higher one growth and flower. Combine it with the oscillation and no leaf takes the same load for hours.

Build

Brushless EC motor with carbon steel gears and dual ball bearings, IP54 against dust and spray, and a metal clamp with a vice-like grip. Oscillation is adjustable across ten levels, from targeted to as wide as it goes.
