Airsock Ø160 MM - 5M

A fabric air distribution sock, 160 mm bore and five metres long. You connect it to your intake and hang it through the room, and fresh air then leaves along its whole length instead of from one opening.

The trouble with air arriving in one spot

Fresh air entering your room through a single opening arrives as a jet. That jet has speed and is usually cooler than the air already there, and cold air sinks.

The result is a cold stream falling across a small part of your plants while the rest of the room notices nothing. In that spot the temperature runs lower, leaves dry out faster, and the climate differs noticeably from a metre away. With plants you want growing evenly, that is exactly what you do not want.

The sock solves it by releasing the same volume of air across five metres of fabric. The speed comes out of it, the air mixes with the room before it reaches the plants, and no cold stream lands on any one point.

What the fabric also does

The weave holds back insects and coarser dust that would otherwise ride in on the intake. It is not a filter with a filter class and it does not stop fine dust or spores, but against what flies in through an intake opening it works.

The fabric also damps some of the intake noise, since the air no longer leaves one hole at speed.

Wash the sock at 30 degrees after each cycle. Dust settling into the weave restricts the flow.

Frequently asked questions

Can I shorten it?
Better not simply cut it: the length sets the area the air is released over. Hang it in a curve through the room instead.

No, it is meant for the intake. On the exhaust you need a filter, not a distribution sock.
