A 125 mm duct fan with four fixed speeds: 265, 300, 335 or 370 m³/h, at 60 W.

The RK 125 LS has a ladder whose rungs sit close together. Lowest to highest is only forty percent apart, which suits it to something most fans are too coarse for: moving with the crop.

Four speeds as four stages

A growing space does not ask for the same thing throughout. Young plants transpire little, the lamp is turned down, and there is hardly any heat to shed. By the end there is a full room under full light and a great deal more air has to pass through.

Four speeds let you follow that without buying anything extra. Speed 1 for the first weeks, refreshing the air without drying the space out. Speeds 2 and 3 as the canopy fills in and transpiration rises. Speed 4 for the point where it gets warm and the filter has a few weeks behind it.

That last part is why you want to keep the top speed in reserve. A carbon filter loads up as it goes, and the same setting then delivers less air than it did in week one. Start on speed 4 and you have nothing left to step up to.

Protection and motor

The motor is Swiss made and carries a thermal switch that shuts it down if the working temperature climbs too far. In normal use it does not act.

If it does, a higher speed is not the answer but a symptom: go and find the blockage. Regulation is by the knob on the fan alone, and an external controller does not belong here.

Frequently asked questions

Which speed should I start on?
A low one. You want headroom for later in the cycle, when the filter is fuller and it is warmer.

Are the speeds evenly spaced?
No. Can sets them per model at the factory, so the steps are not the same size throughout.

Does speed 1 use less electricity than speed 4?
Yes, a lower setting asks less of the motor.

Can I link it to a climate controller?
Not as a speed control. Can specifies no external controller for this range.
