Duct fan with a 160 mm flange, 460 m³/h and a power draw of 70 W.

The RK 160 looks a great deal like the RK 150, and that is no accident. They share a motor, and ten cubic metres per hour separates them. The difference is the flange.

150 or 160: the opening decides, not the output

Two sizes sitting this close together exist because two worlds sit side by side. In growing, 150 mm is the common size, and ducting, carbon filters and clamps are built to it. In domestic and commercial building ventilation, 160 mm is the standard, and spiral duct, wall vents and roof outlets are made to match.

So choosing between these two fans is not about 460 against 470 m³/h. You will never notice that. It is about what you connect to. Joining something already present in the building, an existing penetration or a run to the outside, the odds are that it is 160 mm and this is the model. Building a tent from loose parts, 150 mm is more practical because the rest of your materials are in that size.

Reducers exist, but every restriction costs delivery and makes noise, so connecting at the size you already have is nearly always the better call.

Where to hang it

The mounting position is free: horizontal, vertical, on a wall, against the ceiling or standing. No particular side has to face up.

What does matter is the surroundings. Leave some air around the housing, because a motor that cannot shed its heat runs hotter than intended. And decouple it from whatever you fix it to: vibration you cannot hear in the plastic housing becomes audible the moment a bracket passes it into a wooden wall or a tent frame.

Frequently asked questions

Do I want the 150 or the 160?
Look at what is already there. Existing ducting in a building is usually 160 mm, tent materials usually 150 mm.

Does the 160 deliver more than the 150?
No, slightly less in fact: 460 against 470 m³/h. That is not something to choose on.

Can I pull 150 mm ducting over this flange?
Not properly. Use a reducer, or take the model that matches your ducting.

May it hang vertically?
Yes, any position is allowed.
