The 160 mm size is the standard in domestic and commercial building ventilation, which often makes this the part you need when extraction is joined to existing ducting in a house.
Two silencers rather than one
Most installations get one, behind the fan. Anyone who wants it genuinely quiet fits one on each side of the fan.
That sounds excessive and is not, because a fan radiates both ways. Noise entering the duct on the intake side ends up in the very room you were trying to keep calm. If your extraction sits in a growing space inside a house, that is often the side that bothers you, while all the attention goes to the discharge side.
Putting the fan acoustically between two silencers separates it from both sides of the system. Do work out what that costs in duct length and resistance, though, since you are adding 90 cm of silencer.
Connecting
The flanges are firmly fixed to the casing with screws and rivets, so the coupling can carry the silencer's weight without pulling on the seam.
Couple it with clamps to compatible 160 mm parts and do not let the silencer hang from ducting alone: steel with a filling inside weighs noticeably more than a length of flexible hose.
