Can-filters original CAN 366 BFT

The 366 BFT is the long version of the narrow steel body: 66 cm on a 30 cm diameter, 21 kg filled, holding 12 kg of carbon and rated at 700 m³/h in practice. Our version connects through a 200 mm flange.

The pre-filter is the part to remember

Can wraps a multi-layer pre-filter cloth around the carbon. That cloth is not an extra, it is what keeps the carbon alive, and it is the only part of this filter you can maintain yourself.

The reason is that dust and carbon do not mix. Activated carbon works through an enormous internal surface full of microscopic pores, and odour molecules bond to it. Dust is far too coarse to disappear into those pores: it settles on the outside and seals the entrance. The carbon underneath is still entirely usable and is simply no longer reached.

A filter that gives up early is therefore almost never a filter with spent carbon. It is a filter that air can no longer pass through. You notice it as a fan audibly working harder while less air comes out.

So check the cloth from time to time, vacuum it gently or replace it. With twelve kilos of carbon behind it, that is the cheapest piece of maintenance there is.

Connection and fans

Can names the Can-Fan RK 150L at 760 m³/h, the RK 160L at 780 and the quieter RK 160 LS at 810 among others for this model. All three are available from us. The flange is 200 mm, so you either reduce to 150 or 160 mm ducting or run the whole line in 200 mm.

Frequently asked questions

How often does the pre-filter cloth come off?
Looking at it once a cycle is enough. A closed layer of dust means the moment has come. In a dusty room it arrives sooner.

Can I wash the cloth?
Wetting it is a poor idea, because moisture carries through to the carbon and that is exactly what you want to avoid. Vacuum it dry or replace it.

Does it move more than the 333 BFT?
Twice as much, 700 against 350 m³/h, with twice the carbon in the same 30 cm body. It is twice the length for it.

May it hang horizontally?
Yes. At 21 kg, support it along its length rather than at the flange end alone.
