Can-Lite 425

The Can-Lite 425 is the longest of the plastic Can-Lite filters: 60 cm, 3.2 kg, holding 1.6 kg of carbon. 425 m³/h in practice, 476 technically. It keeps the narrow 14.5 cm diameter, so it still suits 100 or 125 mm ducting while moving almost three times the air of the 150.

The flange is not fixed to it, and that is an advantage

On most carbon filters the flange is built into the housing. On the three plastic Can-Lite models it is not: you buy a flange alongside, in 100 or 125 mm, and it is removable and reusable.

That matters at two moments. At purchase you choose the size that suits your existing ducting instead of stepping 125 down to 100 with a reducer that adds resistance. And when you later replace your fan with a heavier model on different ducting, you swap only the flange. The filter, which is the expensive part and the one holding the carbon, stays where it is.

There is a flip side: you do have to order that flange. A filter without one cannot be connected. So count it into your order, and at this airflow prefer 125 mm. On 100 mm you only reach 425 m³/h with a fan working harder, and you will hear it.

Where it stops

Can names eight fans for this filter, all of them 150 or 160 mm, including the Can-Fan RK 150/470 and the RK 160/460. That means the matching fan runs a larger duct size than the filter itself. You go from a 125 mm filter to a 150 or 160 mm fan with a reducer between them. If you want to avoid that step, the Can-Lite 425S is the answer: the same 425 m³/h on a 150 or 160 mm flange.

Frequently asked questions

Which flange should I take?
At 425 m³/h, preferably 125 mm. It fits 100 mm too, but resistance rises and your fan has to spin faster for the same airflow.

Why is this filter so long?
Because the diameter and the bed thickness stay the same as on the 150 and the 300. Capacity here comes entirely from length, and 60 cm is what 425 m³/h needs.

What is the difference from the 425S?
Same airflow, different shape. This one is 60 cm and narrow, on 100 or 125 mm. The 425S is 35 cm and wider, on 150 or 160 mm, in steel.

Can I reuse the flange later?
Yes, it is removable and reusable. On a replacement filter from the same range you simply move it across.
