Ten metres fit in a box of sixty centimetres

They do, and it is the first thing to know before you fit it. The ducting is compressed at the factory to around eighty centimetres and packed that way. It saves enormously on transport and storage, but it means what you take out of the box is not yet the ducting you are going to use.

So pull it fully out before connecting it. Take both ends and stretch it steadily to its full length, or to the length you need.

Why that matters: compressed, the ribs sit close together and reach deep into the bore. Every rib is an obstacle the air has to travel around, and a hundred ribs per metre cost considerably more pressure than thirty. Ducting fitted half stretched behaves like a far narrower duct than it looks.

So pull it taut, including the sections between two bends. Letting it sag is the same mistake on a smaller scale.
