A horizontal run needs supporting

With ten metres of ducting some of it almost certainly runs horizontally, and that is the section where things usually go wrong.

Flexible ducting is light but not rigid. Span it between two points five metres apart and it sags in the middle. Two things then happen at once in that sag.

The first is resistance. Instead of a straight line the ducting makes two shallow bends, and on top of that the wall partly collapses at the lowest point.

The second is moisture, and that one is worse. Extracted air from a grow room is warm and humid. Let it cool in uninsulated ducting and condensation forms against the wall. On a taut run that moisture simply travels on and out; in a sagging section it collects at the low point. Given time there is standing water there, which blocks the flow and starts to smell.

So support the ducting every metre and a half with a wide strap or bracket, and lay it with a slight fall towards the outlet where you can.
