Every metre costs you pressure

Ducting is not a neutral connection. Air rubs along the wall, and in flexible ducting it also rubs along every rib. That friction is resistance, and your fan pays for it.

Which makes the length of your route a design decision rather than something a stronger fan fixes afterwards. Twelve metres of ducting to a window across the room costs you more capacity than three metres to an outlet nearby, with exactly the same fan and the same filter.

So the order in which you gain is fixed. Shorten the route if you can. If you cannot, open the bends out. If you cannot do that either, go up a size in diameter, because a wider duct lowers air speed and with it the friction.

At this size something else applies: 203 mm ducting is substantial, and a long run of it hangs heavy. Count on support every metre and a half.
