A 30 cm box fan with a 40 W motor, five rotor blades, three speeds and a timer up to 120 minutes. The front grille rotates, which makes this fan different from every other one in this range.

The grille turns, not the fan

The usual way to spread air is to let the whole fan head oscillate. This model does it differently: the housing stays put and the front grille turns, so the airflow changes direction while the motor stays where it is.

That has two practical consequences. Less mass is moving, so less vibration goes into whatever the fan is standing on. And the fan stays exactly as wide as it is, without the sideways clearance an oscillating head needs. In a crowded room you can therefore stand it up against something.

The grille turns both clockwise and anticlockwise, and the rotation can be switched off. Off, you have an ordinary aimed fan; on, it spreads across a wider area without moving itself.

The timer

There is a timer of up to 120 minutes. It suits specific jobs: extra flow after watering, while you are working in the room, or to mix away moisture after something that pushes the humidity up. For continuous circulation you leave the timer alone and simply switch it on.

Frequently asked questions

What is the advantage of a rotating grille?
The fan itself does not move, so it vibrates less and needs no sideways clearance to oscillate.

Can I turn the rotation off?
Yes. Switched off it works as an ordinary aimed fan.

What is the timer for?
Temporary extra flow, after watering for instance. For continuous circulation you just leave it running.

Why five blades instead of three?
More blades move the air more evenly at a lower speed, which suits a compact housing.
