The cool setting makes it useful all year

On the cool setting the fan runs without the heating element. That sounds like a side note, but it means the same appliance gives heat in winter and simply moves air in summer. For a room where you have a limited number of sockets and a limited number of places to put things, that saves a second appliance.

Why ceramic rather than a radiant heater

A ceramic element heats the air blown past it instead of radiating at whatever is in front of it. That is exactly what you want in a growing space: heat that distributes through the room with the airflow, rather than a hot spot on one side of your crop.

It also uses no oxygen, produces no combustion gases and is odourless, because nothing is burned. That is a real difference from gas or paraffin heating, which changes both the oxygen level and the humidity in an enclosed space.

The thermostat is there to make it wait

The adjustable thermostat sets the temperature at which it should top up the heat. The heater then switches itself on and off instead of running continuously. Set it to 2000 W with no thermostat and it keeps heating until you intervene, which in a small room happens quickly.

Two power levels help here: 1000 W holds a room at temperature, 2000 W is for getting it there in the first place.

Setting it up safely

It has tip-over protection that switches it off if it falls, and a thermal cutout against overheating. Stand it on a level surface with clear space around it, keep it away from sheeting, fabric and tent walls, and never cover the outlet.
