Metal blades are not a styling choice here

Most fans in this price class have plastic blades. This range has metal ones, and in a grow room that matters on three counts.

• They do not deform. Plastic blades can slowly warp under sustained warmth. A blade that changes shape runs out of balance, and you hear and feel that as vibration.
• They can be cleaned. Dust, and in a grow room resin particles too, cling to blades. Metal takes a wet wipe without anything being attacked, and you keep doing it because it is easy.
• They hold their shape under load. On a high setting a plastic blade flexes slightly, changing the blade angle and losing efficiency. Metal does not.

The chromed frame has a practical advantage beyond the retro look as well: it does not rust away at the humidity normal in a grow room, and it wipes down as easily as the blades do.

Where 30 cm is the right size

This size suits places a larger fan would be too much for, or simply will not stand: a small tent, a grow cabinet, a workbench, or as a second fan beside a larger model to pick up a corner that will not join in.
