Ten kilos against twenty, and why that matters

At this capacity the weight is the clearest difference between this box and its steel counterparts. A metal box in the same class weighs around 20 kg; this one is 10.5.

That difference pays off where you hang it. Twenty kilos from a ceiling or a wall bracket calls for sound structure and fixings that genuinely carry the load; ten kilos hangs from what most grow rooms already have. In a tent it is the difference between possible and not.

It matters while setting up too. A ten kilo box goes into place single handed and moves again later without fuss. At twenty kilos and head height you want help.

There is a flip side, and it is fairer to name it. Mass damps sound in its own right: a heavy case is harder to set ringing than a light one. What foam lacks in mass it wins back by absorbing vibration rather than passing it on. It is a different route to a quiet box, not the same route with less weight.
