What the controller adds over two speeds

This set and the two-speed set use the same filter and the same flange size. The difference is entirely in how the fan is operated, and it is fair to know what the extra buys.

With two settings you choose, and you rarely choose again. In practice you put it on high for the light period and nothing changes after that, not even when it is ten degrees colder outside than yesterday.

With a controller the unit works from the measured temperature and adjusts speed continuously. That gives three things: a steadier temperature, because correction happens faster than you would manage; less consumption, because it never runs harder than needed; and less noise in the hours when things can be calm.

It gives most where your conditions vary: a room with an outside wall, a loft, or a season where day and night are far apart. With a tent in a cellar that stays the same all year, the two-speed version does effectively the same job.

Note the ratio here too: the filter's optimum is 360 m³/h while the fan can go higher. That works precisely because you run it under control and are seldom at the top.
