The shell goes over the fan as well

A silencer behind a fan deals with the noise carried along by the air. What it does not deal with is the noise the fan housing itself radiates, and in a small cabinet at close range that is exactly what you hear.

This set answers that by wrapping the rockwool shell not only around the silencer tube but over the extractor as well. The motor sits inside the insulating material rather than beside it, and its noise has to pass through before it can reach the room.

Rockwool works as an absorber: its fibre structure lets sound waves in and turns their energy into heat through friction. That is different from a solid wall, which reflects sound back; here it disappears.

Together that brings the whole assembly below 40 dB, around the level of a quiet room.

The set arrives pre-assembled and wired. The filter uncouples when it needs replacing, and the 125 mm silencer can be pushed straight through your cabinet wall and clamped into a 121 mm hole with the supplied grille.
