A copper winding, and what it gets you

This range keeps mentioning that the motor is fully copper. That refers to the winding: the hundreds of turns of wire inside the motor that create the magnetic field. That wire is copper or aluminium, and the difference is one you notice only after a year.

Copper conducts better than aluminium. At the same wire thickness and the same power, copper has less resistance, and resistance in a winding becomes heat. A copper motor therefore runs cooler for the same work.

Heat is precisely what destroys a motor. The insulating film on the wire ages faster the hotter it gets, and when that film gives way two turns short together and the motor is finished. For a fan running day and night in a room that is already warm, that weighs more heavily than for something switched on occasionally.

Aluminium is not bad; it is cheaper and lighter, and fine for occasional use. For continuous duty copper is the safer choice, which is why it is mentioned here.

Note what this fan is and is not for: it is axial and therefore built for free airflow. With a carbon filter fitted you will be disappointed; choose a mixed-flow version for that.
