Male Connector Sleeve (External Coupling for Hoses)

This connector slides into flexible ducting at both ends, joining two lengths into one continuous run. Galvanised steel, in sizes from 102 to 254 mm.

Extending a run without weakening it

You need this when the roll runs out before the route does, or when you want to cut a damaged section out of an existing run rather than replace all of it.

The coupling itself is simple, but every join in a ducting run is a potential leak, and on an extraction system that leak is on the suction side. That is the unfavourable side: the system actively pulls air in through any opening it finds. A seam you can still move by hand will pass air, guaranteed.

So the method is fixed. Push the ducting fully onto the spigot at both ends, up to the middle. Secure each side with a worm clamp, not with tape alone. Finish with aluminium tape afterwards if you like.

And do not place the coupling in a bend. A join in a straight section stays put; a join in a bend is slowly pulled apart by the tension in the ducting.

Those are the usual sizes for flexible ducting, which originated in inches. They fit 100 and 250 mm duct sizes.

Can I join ducting to a rigid duct with it?
You can where the sizes suit, but for rigid onto rigid the female sleeve is the right choice.
