Two capacity figures on one product

On this model you meet two numbers that do not match: the blower is a Torin rated 1200 m³/h while the box is sold as 1000. That is not an error, and it is worth understanding why.

The 1200 belongs to the fan itself, measured the way manufacturers do it: blowing free, with nothing in front of or behind it. The 1000 belongs to the complete box, so it includes the path the air takes through the case, the flanges at both ends and the lining it passes.

That path costs pressure, and so capacity. What you buy is the box, not the bare fan, so 1000 is the figure to size your installation on.

The same distinction turns up on carbon filters as practical against technical capacity, and the mistake people make is always the same: calculating with the highest number on the page. The highest number is nearly always the one measured under the kindest conditions.

So work with 1000 m³/h, and mentally take something off that again for your filter and ducting.
