When you are better off with the ordinary steel box

This box and the ordinary 1500 m³/h steel box do the same job at the same flow through the same connection. The softbox costs more, and it is fair to know when that difference repays itself and when it does not.

It repays when the noise has to travel through structure. If the box sits on an upper floor, against a shared wall, inside a home or above a room where someone sleeps, contact noise is the problem rather than the air. That is precisely what the rubber mounting stops.

It repays too when you intend to throttle, since a throttled motor vibrates more.

It repays less when the box stands free in a shed, a garage or a separate plant room with nobody below or beside it. There is barely any structure there to pass vibration into, and you are mostly paying for a problem you do not have. An ordinary insulated box does the job.

Is the difference from the ordinary box audible?
Mostly as low hum through floors and walls. In the room itself the gap is smaller.

The motor is already decoupled. Hang the case itself from solid structure rather than a thin wall.
