The smallest carbon filter in Prima Klima's Eco Line: optimal 160 m³/h, maximum 240. Filter body 150 mm across and 250 mm tall, with a 125 mm flange.
Why the carbon is vibrated in
Prima Klima fills these filters by machine on a vibrating plate, and that is more than a production detail. It decides how well the filter works and how long it keeps working.
Activated carbon sits as loose granules between two perforated walls. Fill that by hand and voids remain between the granules. Air always takes the path of least resistance, so it finds precisely those voids and shoots through unfiltered. That is called channelling, and it is why a filter can pass odour while its carbon is nowhere near full.
By vibrating the body while filling, the granules settle into a dense pack with no voids. The air then has to pass through everywhere instead of around.
There is a second gain. A loose pack settles anyway over months, opening a gap at the top where air has free rein. A pack that is already dense does not settle further.
So do not keep turning the filter over either: every change of orientation gives the pack a chance to reseat.

Frequently asked questions
Why are two airflows given?
The optimal is what to plan on; the maximum is what will still pass. Above the optimum, filtration falls.
Can I shake the filter to settle it?
No. The pack leaves the factory dense; shaking does not help and can break carbon.
What size space is this enough for?
At twenty five air changes it serves around 6 m³.
