The set, or the two parts separately

Fan and filter are sold separately here too, so the question is what the combination gives you.

What the set adds is that the connection sizes and the mounting already agree. Both parts are 125 mm and the bracket is included, so there is no working out which bracket suits which housing. It also saves a delivery and a decision.

What you give up is choice of filter. The K1604 supplied is an Industry filter with an optimum of 460 m³/h, deliberately below the 680 the fan can reach. That is not a mismatch but how such a set is meant to work: the fan is temperature controlled and runs far below its maximum most of the time. The filter is chosen for what you move on average, not for the peak.

If you do intend to run near that 680 as a rule, this filter is too small and you are better off with separate parts and a filter to match.

For the usual case, a tent with control that rarely lets the fan run flat out, the combination is balanced.
