This flange does the same job as the steel version, in PVC: screw it to a flat surface and slide the ducting over it. Available from 100 to 250 mm.

When plastic is the better choice

PVC does not rust. That sounds like a detail until you put a flange on the cold side of a system, where the air you are pushing out cools and leaves condensation on metal. In that spot plastic outlasts galvanised steel by years.

It is also lighter, which matters when you screw it to something that carries little itself: a thin cabinet wall, a wooden panel, a plastic extraction hood. And it does not conduct, which simplifies awkward situations around existing wiring.

And the two places it does not belong

Directly behind a light fixture or a heater the air gets warm enough to soften plastic. And on a flange constantly pulled by heavy ducting, a long horizontal run with no intermediate support for instance, steel is stiffer. In both cases take the metal version.

Frequently asked questions

Is PVC strong enough?
For normal extraction, comfortably. The difference from steel shows only under pulling load or heat.

Will a clamp fit around it?
Yes, and that is the intended method. Tighten it firmly but not so hard that the rim deforms.

Which size do I need?
The same as your ducting. Measure the outer size of the hose if you are between two sizes.
