A worm drive clamp in galvanised steel with a 9 mm band and a clamping range of 60 to 165 mm. Tightened with a screwdriver or a socket.

What a clamp actually does

A clamp does not make an airtight seal by itself. It presses the ducting against the flange underneath, and that combination seals. Which explains the two mistakes people make with them.

The first is clamping too near the edge. With the clamp on the last centimetre of ducting, suction will eventually pull it off. Slide the ducting fully over the flange and set the clamp in the middle of the overlap.

The second is overtightening. Flexible ducting is often wrapped around a wire helix or made of aluminium foil, and a 9 mm band driven home with a socket cuts straight through it. Tighten until the ducting no longer turns by hand, then a quarter turn more.
