A few metres in the right place

At this size there is usually a heavy fan on the end, so the question is rarely whether you need insulation but how much.

Buying by the metre allows a targeted fix that a ten metre box does not. You replace only the section between the fan and the wall outlet, say, or only the two metres running behind a thin partition, and leave the rest of the route as it is.

That works because insulated ducting drops into an existing run without trouble. The connection size matches plain 203 mm ducting, so you cut a section out of your current run, fit a connector at each side and clamp the insulated piece between them.

Watch one thing when fitting it: the insulated section is considerably fatter on the outside than the ducting it replaces. Measure the opening it has to pass through before you cut, because the outside diameter can be ten centimetres or more larger.
