A 100 mm centrifugal duct fan combining the quiet Q motor with the built-in thermostat and speed module. Rated 205 m³/h.
The VK 100 Q U combines the two versions: quiet motor and automatic control. One thing about that control decides whether it suits your setup, and it is where it measures.
The sensor sits in the duct, not in the room
The U version's control module drives on the temperature of the air inside the duct, measured in the fan itself. Not on the temperature of the room your crop is in.
On an extraction fan that is usually exactly right. The air you extract comes from the warmest layer of your space, so what the fan measures tracks what you want to control: as the tent warms, the extracted air warms, and it steps up.
But there are setups where it goes wrong. Extract from a point that is not representative, say close to an intake opening carrying cold air, and the fan measures something other than what the rest of the room is doing. Use it as an intake fan and it measures, by definition, the air you are bringing in rather than the space you want to control.
For those cases there is a version with a remote sensor on a four-metre cable, marked with the letter n in the model designation. If you want to control on room temperature rather than duct temperature, that is the version to look for, or else a separate climate controller with a probe you hang yourself.
What this version is good at: extraction that regulates itself with no extra devices on the wall, from a motor that also happens to run gently.
The two properties together
The Q motor delivers 205 m³/h rather than the standard version's 250, in exchange for running more gently. The module adds temperature control on top, with an adjustable minimum speed. That combination suits a small, quiet setup where you would rather not touch dials every day.
Everything else matches the rest of the range: centrifugal impeller with backward-curved blades, self-resetting overheat protection, ball bearings for at least 40,000 hours, plastic casing and IPX4.

Frequently asked questions
Does it measure my grow room's temperature?
No, the air in the duct. On an extraction fan that usually tracks your room closely, but it is not the same thing.
Can I connect a remote sensor?
Not on this version. Vents makes a version with a sensor on a four-metre cable for that, marked with the letter n.
What is the difference from the VK 100 U?
The same module with the quiet motor: 205 instead of 250 m³/h.
Can the fan stop completely on temperature?
Yes, in mode U2. In mode U it keeps running at the minimum you set.
