A 125 mm centrifugal duct fan with a quiet motor, rated 260 m³/h. Same casing and bearings as the standard VK 125, with a motor that runs more gently.
The VK 125 Q R carries the quiet motor: 260 m³/h instead of the standard version's 355. At this combination of size and airflow, the carbon filter becomes the decisive choice.
Choosing a filter at 125 mm
A carbon filter is nearly always the largest resistance in an extraction run, and the number printed on it works differently from your fan's. A filter is rated for the maximum airflow that can pass before resistance becomes unacceptable; a fan is rated for what it delivers with nothing attached.
The rule is that the filter must never be the bottleneck. For this fan that means choosing one rated at 260 m³/h or more, and preferably with room to spare rather than exactly.
Going larger costs you no airflow and buys two things. Carbon that is not working at its limit offers less resistance, and more carbon means a longer service life before odour returns.
What you run into at 125 mm: in the growing world filters are sold mostly in 100, 150 and 200 mm. They exist in 125, but the choice is narrower. If you cannot find what you want, a 150 mm filter with a reducer down to 125 works well, as long as the reducer sits at the filter end and not as a restriction halfway along your run.
What not to do is use a 100 mm filter because you had one lying around. That filter then sets your entire airflow and you bought the quiet motor for nothing: it has to work harder against too narrow a passage, which is exactly where ventilation noise comes from.
Otherwise identical to the standard
Outside the motor everything matches the VK 125 R: centrifugal impeller with backward-curved blades, dynamically balanced, self-resetting overheat protection, ball bearings for at least 40,000 hours, plastic casing and IPX4. Horizontal or vertical mounting with the supplied brackets.

Frequently asked questions
Which carbon filter suits it?
One rated for at least 260 m³/h. Larger is always allowed and lasts longer.
Can I use a 150 mm filter with a reducer?
Yes, and that is often easier to source than a 125. Put the reducer at the filter end, not halfway along your ducting.
Why not the standard VK 125?
That delivers 355 rather than 260 m³/h. If you do not need it, this one runs more gently; if you do, take the standard.
Does it fit the same ducting as the standard version?
Yes, both 125 mm and the same casing.
