What PRO actually changes

This kit carries product code AC-PKC44, where the other three are AC-PKB. That single letter is not paperwork: AC Infinity sells it as a separate version alongside an ordinary 4x4 kit that we do not stock. Exactly three components change, and one of them you keep noticing for years.

The light becomes an IONFRAME EVO6 rather than an IONBOARD. The difference you meet during assembly is the separate driver. On an IONBOARD the power supply is fixed to the fixture; on the EVO series it is a separate block you can screw to the frame or to a wall outside the tent. That takes a heat source away from above your canopy.

The inline fan becomes a CLOUDLINE T6 from the PRO line instead of an A-series. And you get two clip fans rather than one, which on 1.44 m² you need: with a single fan there is always a corner left standing still.

The filter you keep instead of throw away

The third difference is the least conspicuous and the largest over time. The B-series kits contain an inline carbon filter: a sealed tube you replace whole once the carbon is saturated. This kit contains a refillable one.

Activated carbon runs out. It traps odour molecules until its pores are full, after which the filter does nothing at all while still looking exactly like a filter. With a sealed unit that means buying a new filter, including the steel housing and mesh that were perfectly fine.

With this one you twist off the flange, remove the rubber stopper, discard the spent carbon and scoop fresh carbon in with the supplied funnel and scoop. Only the carbon is bought again. AC Infinity sells that refill in several sizes, and one of the larger sizes covers several changes.

There is a further trick that works on both filter types: reversing the flanges routes the airflow through the untouched part of the carbon bed, which extends its life before you refill at all. Spent carbon can be composted.

Work out for yourself whether that justifies the premium. At one grow a year it takes a while; running continuously with a dense canopy it pays back sooner than most people expect.

The controller

The CONTROLLER AI+ with eight ports drives the inline fan, the light and both clip fans, each on its own port via a UIS control cable. The probe hangs among your plants, the controller itself on the mounting plate outside the tent.

How does it differ from the 90 × 90 kit?

Is refill carbon included?
The filter arrives filled, with funnel and scoop. Loose refill carbon is bought separately once the first fill is spent.

Does the light's driver have to sit outside the tent?
It does not have to, but it can. You can mount it on the fixture's own frame or hang it on a wall outside using the supplied extension lead.
