Atami - Wilma Large 4

The Atami Wilma Large 4 sets four 18 litre pots on a 75 by 75 centimetre base, with a 50 litre reservoir beneath. The Large 4 also exists with smaller pots; this is the 18 litre version, for plants allowed to grow big on little floor.

Big pots in a small tent

At 75 x 75 cm it fits an 80 x 80 grow tent, a size where you usually work with loose pots and a watering can. Four plants with 18 litres of root space each is a solid fill there, and the drip system takes the watering off your hands.

Mind the reserve

Here is the trade-off. The four pots hold 72 litres of substrate between them, the reservoir is 50 litres. That is twelve and a half litres per plant, less than on the Wilma XXL 8. In the growth phase you will barely notice, but once the plants are at their largest and it is warm, the level drops fast. Check daily then and top up in time, or the pump runs dry.

How it works

The pots stand in a grow tray above the reservoir. The pump carries the solution through a manifold to one dripper per pot, and the surplus runs back through the tray. The wholesaler names a black dripper for clay pebbles and a blue arrow dripper for soil, coco and rockwool, recommends clay pebbles and advises cleaning every two weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit an 80 x 80 tent? Yes, at 75 cm a few centimetres are left on each side. Do measure the inside.

Does it come with a timer? Atami names the pump and the irrigation system, not a timer. Plan on a separate timer.

Large 4 or XXL 8? The XXL 8 has the same pot size, twice the sites and 150 litres, but needs a 120 x 120 tent. If you have 80 x 80, this is the size.

How often do I need to top up? That depends on plant size and temperature. With large plants in bloom, expect daily rather than weekly.
