Three plants, three separate trays each with its own AQUAvalve5, and a 47 litre water tank. Because the trays are independent of one another, you decide where each one stands.

Separate trays absorb uneven light

Under a single lamp it is not equally bright or equally warm everywhere. A plant at the edge drinks differently from one directly under the centre, and that gap widens over a run.

With three separate trays none of that matters. Each tray has its own valve and runs its own cycle, so the pot drinking harder simply refills more often. Nothing waits for anything else. That is exactly the difference from a tray system where several pots share one valve and everything has to empty together before water arrives.

It also makes moving things easy. If one plant outgrows the other two, you slide that tray aside without touching the rest.

Two taps, so you can stop just one

Alongside the tee pieces and the cross connector, the box holds two inline taps. They let you shut off one branch without leaving the other trays dry.

That sounds minor and is not. To move a pot, rinse a tray or check a valve, you close that one tap and let the other two plants carry on. Without the taps every small job means stopping the whole system.

The tank has to sit higher than the valves

The supplied 47 litre tank works on gravity. Its outlet therefore has to sit above the valves in the trays, which will not happen with the tank standing on the same floor beside them. Plan for a raised position; a stand is available that fits this tank.

Frequently asked questions

Do the three plants need to match in size? No. Each tray has its own valve, so each plant follows its own rhythm.

Can I spread the pots out? Yes, as far as the pipe reaches. That is the point of separate trays.

Why does the tank have to be raised? There is no pump; water reaches the valves on height difference alone.

Can I add a pot later? Yes, an extension kit branches a fourth tray off the same line.
