The 1Pot system for six pots is six trays each with an AQUAvalve5, six 15 litre pots and the 47 litre tank. At six plants you will usually be feeding as well, which raises the question of what may go into that tank.

The old rule, and why it has shifted

The classic AutoPot advice is to use only clean mineral fertilisers in the reservoir. The reason is mechanical. Every valve regulates through a narrow inlet and an air seal, and anything that settles or flocculates ends up there. A silted valve stops filling, and you notice in the plant rather than the system.

With the AQUAvalve5 that picture has shifted. This generation has a markedly wider inlet than its predecessor, and that widening is precisely what makes thicker and organic solutions manageable: there is more clearance before a particle snags. AutoPot themselves state that feeding organics through reservoir and pipework is possible on this generation, where it was discouraged on the older, narrower valve.

What that means in practice

On mineral feed there is little to think about: dissolve properly, keep the tank clean, use the filter. On organic feed or thicker additives, an AQUAvalve5 system makes it defensible, but it raises your maintenance load. Expect to flush more often, clean the tank between times, and keep an eye on the trays.

The water filter set is in the box for a reason. With six valves on one line, a single blocked inlet is enough to stall one plant while the rest carry on as though nothing happened.

Six independent cycles

Every pot keeps its own rhythm: fill to 20 millimetres, seal under vacuum, run dry, refill. That stays separate per plant at six pots too, which means you can happily stand different species or stages side by side.
