The 1Pot XL system for sixteen pots is sixteen XL trays with AQUAvalve5 on a 16 millimetre main line. At this number of large pots, how you lay out the room becomes a maintenance question.

You do not casually lift a wet 25 litre pot

Full of substrate and soaked through, a 25 litre pot is heavy, and that makes several routine jobs harder than they look on paper. Checking the Root Control Disc under the pot means lifting the pot. Cleaning a tray means taking the pot off. Harvesting or replacing a plant means moving it.

At sixteen pots you do those things sixteen times, and whether that goes smoothly depends entirely on whether you can get to them. A row of trays against a wall with thirty centimetres in front is manageable at four pots and a problem at sixteen.

Planning space you will need later

Leave walkways between rows where you can stand at a pot with both hands, not just space to edge past. Keep the end of the main line reachable for the flush tap. And make sure every tray is visible without moving pots: the most important check is whether a tray runs completely dry between fills, and you can only do that if you can see it.

That is not a luxury. With sixteen independent valves a fault goes quiet: one valve that fouls stops filling while the other fifteen carry on, and nothing warns you.

Frequently asked questions

How much walkway do I need? Enough to reach a pot with both hands, not merely to walk past.

Why must every tray be visible? To see whether it runs dry; that is the key check.

How do I notice a valve failing? In the plant, not the system. Valves work independently.

Can I expand further? Yes, with XL expansion sets on the same line.
