AutoPot - 1Pot XL FlexiPot extension set

The FlexiPot expansion set adds one fabric pot to an existing AutoPot system: a 1Pot XL tray with AQUAvalve5, an 18.9 litre FlexiPot, a PotSock and the connecting hardware.

Three components, and the PotSock is one of them

A rigid-pot expansion gives you a tray, a pot and a Root Control Disc. With a fabric pot that disc is dropped and a PotSock takes its place: a stitched, copper-treated cover over the base of the pot. It belongs with it and is not optional, because without a root barrier roots grow into the tray and eventually into the AQUAvalve5.

Check you have the right combination when ordering: an 18.9 litre FlexiPot belongs in a 1Pot XL tray, with a PotSock matching that pot size.

Combining with what you already have

The tray and pipework are identical to the rest of the XL range, so this expansion hangs off the same 16 millimetre main through the supplied fitting. You can happily run fabric and rigid pots side by side on one installation.

Do bear in mind they will not share a rhythm. A fabric pot also evaporates through its side wall and therefore dries back sooner than a rigid pot of comparable volume. Each tray has its own valve, so that sorts itself out; it simply means your reservoir empties faster than you are used to from your existing pots.

Connecting it

Shut off the supply before making the branch, or air enters the line and upsets the vacuum seal on the other valves. Top-water the new plant for seven to ten days until roots reach the lower layer, and only then connect it.
