The Auto3 XL FlexiPot tray system is the same 114.5 by 38.5 centimetre tray with the same AQUAvalve5, but with fabric FlexiPots instead of rigid ones. Three pots, one tray, one valve.

What the fabric pot changes, and what it does not

Unchanged: the tray, the lid, the valve, the moulded base and the fact that the three pots share one water level. So here too you put plants of similar size together.

What does change is how the pots behave. Fabric pots are porous, so moisture evaporates through the side wall and not only from the top. They dry back sooner, which means this tray runs a fill cycle more often than the same tray with rigid pots.

Where that meets the shared valve

Here is the thing to watch with this combination. On individual trays each pot governs itself, so a faster-drying pot simply cycles more often. Here three fabric pots share one valve, so they have to empty together before a refill comes.

With the three pots close together in the middle of the tray they dry at roughly the same rate. Put one at the edge where more air passes, or close to a lamp, and it runs ahead of the rest. So mind placement when setting up: with fabric, position within the tray matters more than it does with plastic.

PotSocks belong with them

Each fabric pot gets a PotSock: a copper-treated cover over the base that holds roots back. On a tray system that matters more, because roots reaching the tray arrive at the only valve feeding your whole setup.
