AutoPot - Easy2Grow 2 Pots 8.5 Liter Extension Kit

The Easy2Grow expansion set adds two pots to a system already running. You get a complete tray with valve, two pots and the connector to put it onto your existing line. No tank, because you already have one.

What is in it, and why that is right

The set includes a 16 to 9 millimetre connector and a length of 9 millimetre hose. That is exactly how an Easy2Grow system is put together: a 16 millimetre main line runs past your trays, and a thinner branch goes from it to each valve. So this set supplies that branch, plus the fitting that puts it onto the main.

If you run a smaller system that feeds straight from the tank fitting rather than through a 16 millimetre main, check your existing fittings before ordering.

Connecting to a running system

Two things to bear in mind, and both follow from how the valve works.

Shut the line off before you branch into it. Close the tap at the tank or use the tap on your branch, or water runs out of the line while you fit the tee. It also lets air into the system, and air in the line is exactly what upsets the vacuum seal on the other valves.

Let the new plant root first. As with a new system, water a fresh plant from above for seven to ten days until its roots reach the lower layer. Connect it sooner and there will be water in the tray that never reaches the roots, leaving the tray standing full while the plant goes dry.

Expansion goes in twos

That is because one Easy2Grow tray feeds two pots from a single AQUAvalve5. An expansion is therefore always a whole tray, and your system grows in steps of two pots.

Since those two pots share their water layer and therefore their cycle, put plants of similar size in them. Give your tank a thought too: every tray you add shortens how long your reserve lasts, and the one-third refill rule still applies.
