Blumat 8mm elbow

The 8 millimetre elbow turns a right angle in the supply hose without the hose itself having to bend.

Why not just bend the hose

Because plastic hose kinks on a tight bend, and a kink narrows the bore. At the low working pressure of a Blumat installation that is not a detail: the drippers beyond that kink get noticeably less. A kinked hose also springs back towards its old shape, shifting your whole line with it.

An elbow keeps the bore round and the line where you put it, which at a corner is exactly what you want.

Could I lay a wide curve instead? Yes, if you have the room that is fine. The elbow is for tight corners.
