Blumat connector Ø8mm

The 8 millimetre connector joins two lengths of supply hose. Straight through, no branch.

What you reach for it for

Usually a repair. A supply line gets cut at every branch, and sometimes you cut one too many or move a plant. A connector closes that cut instead of relaying the whole line.

Also for joining rolls. A roll runs to a hundred metres at most, so a longer installation means coupling two rolls with a connector.
