Counting in hundred-metre rolls

Supply hose comes on rolls of at most a hundred metres. Every changeover from one roll to the next costs a connector, so a 250 metre line needs two and a 400 metre line three. That is the first place a pack of three adds up.

And counting ducts

The second is a route you cannot lay in one piece. Where the line passes through a wall duct, under a door or from one room to the next, you lay it in sections and join it in place. Every interruption is another connector.
