Count pots, not metres

Each plant takes only a short length of drip hose from the T-piece to the sensor: in practice twenty to sixty centimetres. At forty centimetres average, a hundred metres works out at roughly 250 branches.

That happens to line up with the rest of the system: one supply run serves around 250 sensors. A single roll of drip hose therefore covers roughly one complete installation, which makes it the sensible purchase when fitting out a whole space at once rather than buying per plant.

What actually consumes it

Not the metres but the repairs. The 3 millimetre line sits at ground level between pots and takes damage there. Cutting a fresh length off a roll is a good deal quicker than ordering single metres at the moment something breaks.
