Blumat Shut-off valve Ø8mm

The Blumat valve coupling is a shut-off tap for the 8 millimetre supply hose, with compression fittings each side. Despite the name it does not connect to your water tap: it sits inside the line.

Fit it at the end of each branch

That is where it earns its place. A supply line normally ends in an end piece and is then closed, and whatever is left inside stays there. Put a small valve there instead and you can flush the line: open it, let it run until the water comes clean, close it again.

That matters most if you feed nutrients. Residues settle in the line and especially in the narrow drip points, and flushing is the only way to stay ahead of it without dismantling the installation.

Also useful for isolating a section

Running several branches, a valve on each lets you shut part of the installation without stopping the rest. Maintaining one row then does not leave the other dry.
