The Blumat tank fitting turns any container into a water supply: drill a 12 millimetre hole, push the fitting through, slide on the sealing washer and tighten the nut. The 8 millimetre supply hose goes on behind it.
At the lowest point, and that is not a detail
Drill the hole as low in the tank wall as you can. Anything below the fitting never comes out: that water simply sits there and plays no part. Drill ten centimetres too high in a fifty litre drum and you lose a real share of your supply, and the installation runs dry sooner than you reckoned.
A second benefit of drilling low: sediment gathers on the bottom rather than in the line, provided you drain and rinse the tank occasionally.
Which tank you can use
Any vessel you can drill a 12 millimetre hole in and stand high enough. That last part is the condition: on a gravity installation the water level must sit above the sensors, half a metre minimum and preferably a metre. If you use rainwater, fit a filter too, or the drip points will block.
Technical Specifications:

Frequently asked questions
Can I drill any tank? Any tank with a flat wall that takes a 12 mm hole.
Why as low as possible? Water below the fitting never comes out.
How high must the tank stand? Water level at least half a metre above the sensors, better a metre.
Do I need a pressure reducer as well? No. That is for a tap; with a tank you work on gravity.
