The XL bottle adapter delivers 0.3 litres per 24 hours instead of 0.2, and comes in a pack of two. It exists for the cases where the standard adapter simply cannot keep up.

When 0.2 litres a day is not enough

On large planters, and on plants that drink heavily. Blumat name tomatoes and cucumbers themselves, and that is a good yardstick: a fruiting plant in full sun transpires more than two hundred millilitres on a warm day, so the root ball dries out slowly even while the bottle empties.

Fifty percent more per day sounds modest and is not: it is the difference between a plant holding steady and one going backwards while the system works exactly as designed.

Two of them, and why that fits

Large pots often do better with two cones on opposite sides of the root ball than one in the middle, because water spreads only so far through soil from a single point. The two-pack matches that: two large pots, or one very large one with two points.

Same rules as the standard adapter

This one also gives a fixed amount per day and measures nothing. No nutrients in the bottle, because the cone silts up. And pierce a hole in the base so no vacuum forms.

Frequently asked questions

When do I choose XL over standard? On large pots and heavy drinkers such as tomatoes or cucumbers.

Could I use two standard adapters instead of one XL? Yes, it comes to about the same and spreads water better through the root ball.

Does it regulate on moisture? No, output is fixed. For demand-based watering, look at the Houseplant cone or the Tropf sensors.
