Tropf Blumat for houseplants

The Blumat Houseplant is the simplest way to water one plant automatically: a ceramic cone in the pot, 80 centimetres of suction hose, and the other end in any container of water. Nothing else.

No line, no tap, no head height

This is what separates it from the Tropf Blumat sets. Those need a supply line, and that line must be fed from a tank standing higher than the plants, or from a tap through a pressure reducer. The Houseplant needs none of it. It is self-priming: it draws the water up out of the reservoir itself. A bottle, a glass, a bucket beside the pot or below it, the height makes no difference.

That makes this the version for a plant standing on its own: on a windowsill, on top of a cabinet, in a room with no water connection.

Water only arrives when the plant is dry

As the root ball begins to dry, suction builds inside the cone and water is drawn through. Once moisture is back up, it stops. The plant sets the pace, so a pot in shade uses less than one in the sun.

How long it lasts

As long as there is water in the reservoir. How long that is depends on three things: reservoir size, pot size and how much the plant drinks. A bigger reservoir is the only one of those you can really adjust.
