AC Infinity - Hanging Drying Rack 66 60 cm 6-Tier

119.4 cm below your hanging point

Stacking six chambers means six times that chamber height plus the space between the rings, and it adds up to nearly one metre twenty. In a 180 cm tent, hung just under the roof, the bottom of this rack lands around sixty centimetres off the floor.

That is no obstacle, but it is worth measuring before ordering rather than after. Measure from the point you will actually hang it, not from the roof of the tent, and count the hook or the loop. Then consider what else is on that same bar: at this length the light has to come out of most tents before the rack can go in.

Six chambers, and what that does to the air

The chambers share a single vertical column of air. Air entering at the bottom has just come off your drying space; air arriving at the top has already passed five chambers. At four tiers you barely notice, at six it starts to matter whether the room is moving.

The advice that follows is simple, and it is ours rather than AC Infinity's: position a fan so it circulates room air instead of blowing at the mesh. A direct stream on one side of the rack dries that side faster than the other, which is exactly the difference you will otherwise read back between top and bottom at six tiers.

Construction

The frame is flexible steel wire, the mesh non-toxic polyester. Each chamber stands roughly 17 cm high (6.75 inches) and carries a zip around its full circumference, so a single layer opens without disturbing the rest. A Velcro loop at the top fastens to a bar; a hanging hook and a carrying bag are included, and the rack folds flat.

No, it is two fewer. The eight-tier measures 129.5 cm against this one's 119.4 cm, so those two extra chambers cost only ten centimetres.

Should I keep the zips closed while drying?
You can, and it keeps dust and insects out. The mesh passes plenty of air with the zips done up.

Can the rack hang outdoors?
AC Infinity name outdoor settings as an application explicitly. Keep it out of direct sun and out of rain, since both work against an even dry.
