Two more chambers for ten centimetres

Put the two large racks side by side and there is a neat piece of arithmetic. Six chambers hang 119.4 cm. Eight chambers hang 129.5 cm. So you gain a third more drying space and pay 10.1 centimetres of hanging length for it, a little over eight percent.

That happens because part of the length is fixed whatever the chamber count: the loop at the top, the rings, the finish at the bottom. Only the chambers themselves scale. Stacking therefore gets cheaper in height the higher you go, which is the argument for looking straight at eight if you already have the clearance for the six-tier model.

Where the limit actually sits

Not in the height, but in the air and in your arms. Eight chambers stacked share one column of air, and the top chamber receives air that has already passed seven others. So keep the room moving, with a fan that circulates rather than blows at the mesh, and expect top and bottom not to finish on precisely the same day.

And practically: at 129.5 cm the bottom chamber sits around half a metre off the floor of a 180 cm tent, with the top one somewhere near your eye line. Reaching all eight without moving anything is not automatic. For a harvest you hang once and then leave alone that is no problem; for material you turn daily, a model with fewer tiers is easier to live with.

Construction

Flexible steel wire with non-toxic polyester mesh. For this model alone in the range, AC Infinity also publish the mesh thickness: 1.5 mm. Each chamber stands roughly 17 cm high (6.75 inches) with its own full-circumference zip, a Velcro loop sits at the top, and a hanging hook and carrying bag are included. Despite the length it folds flat into the same disc as the smaller models.

Frequently asked questions

Is eight tiers overkill for a 90 x 90 cm tent?
Not necessarily: the diameter matches the six-tier, so you use the same floor space. What you give up on top of that is ten centimetres of height.

Does the top chamber dry as fast as the bottom one?
Not exactly. All eight share one column of air, so expect a small difference between top and bottom and judge each layer rather than writing off the whole rack at once.

Why is mesh thickness listed only on this model?
Because AC Infinity publish it only in the DRA68 table. The mesh on the other three looks identical, but a figure the manufacturer does not give is not one we add.

How much weight will a chamber take?
AC Infinity do not publish that figure. They say only that the steel frame handles heavier loads than a bare net would, and we go no further than they do.
