Single Ring Scissors

The motion is different

With ordinary scissors you put two fingers through the holes and open and close with your hand. With these you take the whole tool in your fist and squeeze. The loop springs back open on its own. So there is nothing to line up with your fingers, and no need to reposition your grip between cuts.

That sounds like a small difference, and it is, until you notice what it buys you: you can hold it without looking at it. One hand holds a branch aside, the other cuts by feel. Inside a dense plant, where you cannot clearly see where the jaw is, that works better than a scissor you have to thread your fingers through.

Precision ground

The blades are ground to each other and close all the way to the tip. On fine work that is the only thing that counts: once a scissor stops closing properly at the tip it folds material instead of cutting it, and you flatten a stem. Closing tips give a clean cut on thin stems and leaf.

Where it stops

This is a basic tool, and that is not a complaint. There is no rubber around the loop and no lock. For short jobs and as a spare in the drawer that is fine. If you are going all day, a model with a covered handle is kinder to your hand.
